Apple-Strawberry Snow
                          
1 envelope unflavored gelatin
 ¼ cup cold water
 2 cups apple sauce
 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
 ¼ tsp. nutmeg
 dash of salt
 1 tsp. vanilla 
   2 egg whites
 1/3 cup sugar
     
Soften gelatin in cold water for 5 minutes. Combine apple sauce, nutmeg
and salt; heat. Add gelatin, stirring until dissolved. Cool until
slightly thickened. Add strawberries and vanilla. Beat egg whites
 until stiff. Gradually add sugar, beating constantly. Fold into apple
 sauce mixture and pour into 1 quart mold. Chill until firm. Serve
 with a meat or poultry meal or as a dessert with more strawberries and whipped
 cream.
