Aunt Mitzi’s Mandel Bread
¼ lb. butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 cups flour-not sifted
½ tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
Add sugar to softened margarine. Add well-beaten eggs and vanilla. Soft
dry ingredients into mixture. Divide dough in 3 parts. To one part
add ½ cup chocolate chips—to next, add ½ cup coarsely chopped
nuts, to third part add ½ cup raisins and cocoanut. Put each
in buttered bowls. Cover and refrigerate overnight. On lightly greased
cookie sheet, place each, formed into 2” wide loaves. Bake at 350º
for 25-30 minutes. Slice into ½ inch slices, roll in mixture
of cinnamon and sugar, return to oven at 300* for 10 to 15 minutes.
